Post-War English Teddy Girls were totally a muse to ZIMMERMANN’s New York Fashion Week 2014 collection. So, to capture this retro, rockabilly kind of style, ghd stylist Sophie Roberts created slicked back, twisted low ponytails. Here, she shows The Beauty Bean how to glam up our coif in 8 easy steps.
How To DIY Sleek, Twisted Updos
Step One: On damp hair, apply ghd Total Volume Foam from roots to ends, with a small amount of ghd Smooth Finish Serum to the ends only.
Step Two: Cut a sharp low side part from temple to crown using the ghd tail comb, and comb hair tight to the head, flipping the front upwards with the ghd detangling comb to create a shallow quiff.
Step Three: Sectioning out front quarter (deep side) of hair (from part-line to behind the ear) twist hair at side and secure with bobby pins.
Step Four: To establish the texture of hair, with the ghd detangling comb, comb hair back and diffuse dry using the ghd air professional performance hairdryer.
Step Five: Using the new ghd Eclipse Styler, set the wave through the mid-lengths and ends.
Step Six: Divide hair into two ponytails at back, and twist each section separately into the center.
Step Seven: Wrap the twists of hair around each other to create a rope in the ponytail and band to secure.
Step Eight: Set look in place with firm hold hair spray.
