Beauty boosting water recipe: Ginger, Mint + Lemon Water

Struggle to drink the 8 glasses of water per day recommended for optimal health (and beauty!)?

Los Angeles based event planner and COO of DNA events, April Luca doesn’t just know all there is to know about making your next party a show-stopper, she also knows how to turn your next glass of H2O into a beauty-boosting – and beautiful! – experience.

“Infused water hydrates from the inside, making your skin appear more luminous while decreasing the look of fine lines and wrinkles,” says Luca. More than just making your next glass of water more flavorful, though, April’s Ginger, Mint + Lemon Infused Water also boosts immunity, supports optimal digestion and helps to flush toxins out of your body.

And unlike store-bought flavored beverages that are often packed with chemicals, low in nutrients and high in artificial sugars, this fruit infused water is packed only with the good stuff!

Ginger, Mint + Lemon Water

1-2 liters of filtered water
1 2-inch ginger root, thinly sliced
1 lemon, peeled and sliced
12-15 fresh mint leaves
Lemon slices, to garnish, if desired

Fill a jug with filtered water. Add the ginger, lemon and mint. You can squeeze a bit of the lemon juice into the water as well to give it a burst of citrus flavor.

Let this mixture sit overnight in the fridge to allow the flavors to seep into the water.

Add ice immediately prior to serving to avoid diluting the mixture.

Garnish with lemon slices, if desired. But note that while visually, the lemon looks better with the rind on it for presentation, it can add a bitter taste to your infusion.

Added Beauty Tip: lemon juice can also decrease the occurrence of blackheads when applied topically. So wipe a bit of lemon juice on your blackhead zone when you are creating your infusion for double the results!
