First and foremost, a word of thanks. To all of the men and women who work so hard for our country and who deserve far more than a single day of celebration. When we imagine how we can best celebrate today, it’s simple. With friends and family and the people we love most. So before we dive into today’s beautiful weddings, we have one more bit of inspiration from yesterday’s full day of gorgeousness. Celebrating a table set for Thanksgiving and the one day we use to take a pause from life’s chaos..with good wine, good people and some pretty, pretty candlelight of course. If you missed yesterday’s celebration, . And here to see the gallery.

2 natural sponges (found in the watercolor section of an art or craft supply store)
Plaster of Paris
Plastic or glass bowl, large enough to fit your sponge
Baking sheet
Tin foil
2 copper pipe caps (1/2″ diameter, available at Home Depot)
2 taper candles
Exacto knife
Hot glue gun & glue sticks

Step 1: Use your exacto knife to dig a small hole in the center of the sponges so that the metal caps can be inserted.

Step 2: Hot glue the metal caps into the holes in the sponges (open side up, this is where your taper candles will go when the piece is finished).

Step 3: Mix enough plaster to completely submerge the sponge… about 2 cups plaster and 1 cup water, in the glass bowl. Mix with your fingers and squeeze out all the lumps until the mixture is smooth.

Step 4: Dip your sponge into the plaster until it is totally covered. Remove and place on a sheet of tin foil.

Step 5: Use your fingers to cover any bare spots with extra plaster. Repeat steps 3-5 with the second sponge.

Step 6: Let dry for about 24 hours, until the plaster is no longer moist & cool to the touch. Insert your taper candles, and light up any room in the house!
