These koftas are fantastic for kids - easy to make and quick to cook. Plus you get the chance to let the children experiment with different spices, herbs and seasonings.

Equipment: You will need four kebab sticks.

Ingredients

  • 500g/1lb 2oz beef mince

  • 1 onion, finely chopped

  • 1 free-range egg

  • 1 tsp ground coriander

  • 1 tsp ground cumin

  • 1 tsp paprika

  • ½ tsp chilli

  • ½ tsp ground turmeric

  • pinch ground cinnamon

To serve
  • pitta bread

  • salad

Preparation method

  1. Soak four kebab sticks in cold water.
  2. Preheat the grill to hot.
  3. Combine the ingredients in a large bowl until thoroughly mixed.
  4. Make the mixture into four thick sausage shapes and thread onto the skewers.
  5. Grill for 8-10 minutes, turning frequently.
  6. Serve with pitta bread and salad.
