Radiant Orchid is the color of the year and it’s here to stay for summer. If you’re feeling adventurous, wear a coat of deep purple mascara on your lashes. For a more subtle effect, use a wash of a lilac shimmer on your lids instead.
Golden Bronze Skin
That golden glow will always be in for summer. Apply a sweep of bronzer to all areas where the sun would naturally hit your face like the cheekbones, bridge of the nose, and chin. You can also use other products like makeup primers that have a little color in them to give an added bronze effect. I love Stila’s One Step Bronze. It corrects, hydrates, and contains bronzing pigments! Perfect for this season.
The ‘No-Makeup’ Look
Another trend that’s very in for summer 2014 is the ‘no-makeup’ look. Applying cream facial products that mimic the natural texture of skin rather than powder products will work well to achieve this look. Using a neutral palette of shades (cream, taupe, and brown tones) to subtly enhance your features will also help to make you up without looking “made up.”
Citrus Nail Polish
Citrusy shades, namely bright yellow and orange, are very big this season. Bright-hued nail lacquer colors like these popped up on the summer runways and are perfect for summertime pedicures too. That fun pop of color looks great when you’re dipping your toes in the ocean!
That “beach chic” look, complete with mermaid waves, is perfect for the summer season. For easy waves, divide damp hair at night into two sections and create pigtail braids. Sleep on the braids, take your hair down in the morning, and voilà! Perfect mermaid waves with minimal effort. I also love spritzing a little sea salt spray into the hair once it’s dry for a little extra oomph.
